Inbox
Read and reply to Instagram DMs in Send Link To Me. See automation DMs in the thread, tag people, keep notes, save replies, and build segments. Included on every paid plan.
The inbox shows the direct messages on a connected Instagram account: what people sent you, what your automations sent, and replies you made from the Instagram app. You can reply, react, tag people, keep private notes, and save replies.
Plans: every paid website plan (Starter and up) and the paid Shopify plans (Growth and Pro). Free plans see an upgrade card instead. Inbox replies never count as sends.
Open the inbox
The first time you open the inbox, the last 20 messages of each existing conversation are imported from Instagram. That is the most Instagram shares. From then on, every new message is saved as it arrives. Inbox settings shows the import progress and has Import again.
What you see in a thread
- Messages from the person on the left, yours on the right.
- A small label above outgoing messages: Automation (sent by one of your automations), You (sent from the inbox), or Instagram app (sent from your phone).
- Photos, videos, voice notes, files, shared posts and Reels, story replies and mentions, stickers, and the buttons and cards your automations sent.
- Reactions, Edited, unsent messages, and Seen on your latest message.
- Where the chat started, when the person came from an ad or an ig.me link.
Reply
Type in Write a reply. Type / for saved replies. and press Enter to send. Shift + Enter adds a new line.
- Text up to 1,000 characters.
- Up to 10 photos in one message, or a video, audio file, or PDF.
- A heart with Send a heart.
- React to their message with an emoji from the smile button next to it.
Instagram only allows replies within 24 hours of the person's last message. The header shows how much time is left. When the window closes, the reply box locks until they message you again.
If an automation is still waiting on the person (for example for a follow or an email), a banner shows above the thread with Stop automation.
Stay organised
- Done moves a conversation out of Open. A new message reopens it.
- Snooze hides it For 1 hour, Until tomorrow 9 AM, or Until next Monday 9 AM.
- Mark as unread from the menu.
- Filters at the top: Open, Unread, Needs reply, Done, Snoozed, All.
- Search people and messages finds names, usernames, and message text.
- Select conversations lets you mark many as Done, Reopen, or Read, or add and remove a tag.
Tags, notes, and saved replies
Open Profile and notes in a thread to see the person's name, followers, whether they follow you, any email or phone they shared, links they opened, Shopify orders, and the automations they triggered.
- Tags: choose Tag, then pick one or type a new name to create it. Tags also show on the Contacts page, where you can filter by them and edit them, and they are in the CSV and Excel export.
- Notes: private to your login. The person never sees them.
- Saved replies: create them in Inbox settings, Saved replies. Give one a shortcut, then type /shortcut in the reply box.
Segments
A segment is a saved set of filters, for example "shared an email and follows you". Choose Segments above the list to create one from status, tags, unread, needs reply, inside the reply window, shared an email or phone, follows you, opened a link, came from an ad, follower count, active in the last N days, or a specific automation. Pick a segment in the list to filter by it.
Seen on Instagram
By default, opening a conversation does not tell the person you read it. To change that for one Instagram account, open Inbox settings and turn on Show Seen on Instagram when I open a conversation.
Privacy
Inbox messages, copied media, tags, and notes stay while the Instagram account is connected. Disconnecting the account deletes them. See the Privacy Policy.
