Edit an automation

Edit a Send Link To Me automation and save from any step once something changed. Duplicate an automation into an off copy, add a keyword, then turn it on.

Open the automation, change what you need, then save. Save stays off until something actually changed, so you never write a fake update.

Open Edit

Go to Automations and open the automation.
Choose Edit. On the Automations list, the ⋯ menu on a card also has Edit.
Edit opens on the DM step (Keywords for DM keyword automations). Type and Select stay as they are and are not shown here.
Change the DM, Audience, Keywords, or Name steps.

Save from any step

You do not have to walk to the last step to save.

  • As soon as something changed, a bar shows You have unsaved changes with Discard and Save changes. It works on every step before Review.
  • On Review, use Save at the bottom. While it runs it reads Saving…
  • If something needs fixing, Save opens the step with the first problem.
  • After a save, the toast says Changes saved. and the automation's page opens.
  • If nothing changed, Save stays off with No changes to save yet.
  • Leaving with unsaved changes asks first.

What you can change after it is live

  • Name (required, max 120).
  • Active from and Active to. Leave both blank for Always on.
  • Keywords or Send DM to all comments. See Keywords and triggers.
  • DM content: switch between a template and an inline message, or change the inline offer.
  • Public reply phrases on post and Reel automations. Story and live stay Direct only.
  • Only DM people who follow you.
  • Name, Email, Phone lead toggles on Growth and up.

The On and Off switch on the automation's page saves right away. On Review, Automation status is part of the edit and saves with Save. See Pause and delete.

Story and live automations stay Direct only. You cannot add a public comment reply on those surfaces.

Duplicate

Duplicate copies an automation so you can reuse its DM and settings.

Open the automation and choose Duplicate, or choose Duplicate from the ⋯ menu on its card.
The copy is made Off and with no keywords, because a keyword can belong to only one automation in the same place. The toast says Automation duplicated. Add a keyword, then turn it on.
The copy opens in Edit on the Keywords step. Add a keyword, or turn on Send DM to all comments, and save.
Turn the copy on.

You can save the off copy without keywords. Turning it on without a keyword is refused with Add a keyword before you turn this on. The copy counts toward your active automation limit only once it is on.

Keyword clashes

Each keyword can belong to only one automation on the same post, the same story, your stories window, your live videos, or your DMs.

While you type, a warning shows under the keyword field, for example: 'link' is already used by Summer drop on this post. The automation name links to it.

Save checks again. If a keyword is taken, Edit opens Keywords and names it, for example Keyword "link" is already used by another automation on this post.

Carousel flow

A carousel DM whose card buttons open a link or another carousel, up to 3 carousels deep. Growth and up.

Turn off or delete an automation

Turn a Send Link To Me automation off so it stops sending and stays saved, or delete it with its stats and the details it collected.
