# Meta rules and send limits (/docs/meta-rules)

Send Link To Me uses Meta's official Instagram Login and Graph APIs with the permissions you approve. We do not scrape Instagram or use unofficial clients. You still need to follow Instagram and Meta Platform Terms.

This is allowed when you stay on official APIs and a Business or Creator account. See [Connect Instagram](/docs/connect-instagram) and [Meta usage](/meta-policy).

## One private reply per comment [#one-private-reply-per-comment]

Meta allows about **one** private reply per comment. If we already replied to that comment, we will not send again.

Nested replies (a reply under someone else's comment) are skipped (`reply_comment`) so threads do not burn your sends. Your own comments are skipped (`own_comment`).

## About 7 days [#about-7-days]

Private replies have a time window of about **7 days** after the comment. After that, Meta will not accept a private reply for that comment. Events after the window fail instead of sending.

## About 750 messaging actions per hour [#about-750-messaging-actions-per-hour]

Messaging actions are capped at roughly **750 per hour per Instagram account**. When you hit that ceiling, we queue and retry so the account stays inside the rules. Short delays are normal during a busy launch.

Events show Rate limited while that is happening. Auth chips in the product can read About 750 sends per hour.

<Callout type="info">
  Unlimited on Starter and above is a **product** cap, not a Meta cap. A viral Reel can still queue behind 750 actions an hour. See [Plans and meters](/docs/plans-and-meters).
</Callout>

## Why a DM can be delayed or missing [#why-a-dm-can-be-delayed-or-missing]

* Hourly ceiling, then queue.
* Funnel still open: they have not tapped Yes, send it over, I'm Following, or a lead reply.
* Skip reasons on [Events](/docs/events-and-skips): disabled, billing\_locked, reply\_comment, own\_comment, empty\_text, no\_match, plan\_send\_cap.
* Needs reconnect after a password or security change. See [Manage Instagram](/docs/manage-instagram).
* Missing Content publish permission only blocks post now and schedule, not keyword DMs on existing media.

## Permissions we ask for [#permissions-we-ask-for]

Four Instagram Login scopes: basic profile and media, manage comments, manage messages, and content publish. Details: [Connect Instagram](/docs/connect-instagram).
